Reiki, also known as the Usui System of
Natural Healing, was developed in Japan during the last century
and has been practiced in this country for more than five decades.
Reiki is based upon the channeling of
universal life force energy, the energy that pervades and surrounds all life. Through methods,
techniques and practices one learns to focus and direct this energy for
specific purposes and outcomes of self-healing.
Reiki may be experienced and practiced in a number of ways.
A most common introduction is to receive a "hands on" session with a
practitioner.
A massage table provides ideal comfort for the
practitioner and the recipient during the 60 - 90 minute session. The Reiki
practitioner places her hands in the specific positions on the recipient's
fully clothed body or works within the energy fields.
Reiki understands each
person completely. It knows the cause of all problems or difficulties.
It comes directly from God and is available to everyone.
While Reiki sessions
are a wonderful way of maintaining a sense of wellness and well-being, there
are other reasons people have chosen to receive Reiki including:
 |
Promotes from
within: calmness, serenity, inner harmony, compassion and trust. |
 |
Heals the cause and
effects of imbalances by loosening blocked energy. |
 |
Reduces and
minimizes physical pain and discomfort due to illness.
|
 |
Relieves daily
stress and promotes relaxation, restoring personal energy and vitality.
|
 |
Works well with and
compliments traditional medical treatments. |
 |
Promotes
self-awareness so you can change situations in your life for the better.

HOW DOES REIKI HEAL
When a person receives a Reiki session, God’s
Consciousness
assesses where the person has blocks and then directs the healing energy,
usually to the block that is nearest the hands. However, sometimes it will
go to the block that is most important even if it is far from the hands. The
Reiki energy then works with the negative thoughts and feelings that are
blocking one's natural flow and releases them.
REIKI CAN BE COMPLEMENTARY
You can continue
to receive regular medical or psychological treatment while receiving Reiki.
Reiki works to improve the results of medical treatment, acting to reduce
negative side effects, such as those from chemotherapy, surgery and invasive
procedures. Regular sessions may shorten healing time, reduce or eliminate
pain, reduce stress and create optimism.
WHAT REIKI IS NOT
Reiki
is not a religion or religious cult. It has no dogma or specific doctrine of
beliefs. Reiki works whether you or the recipient believes in it or not.
Reiki is not channeling, a form of mind control or
hypnosis; it is not based on imagination, wishful thinking or visualization
and is not dependent upon a certain state of mind. It is not necessary to be
in a meditative state to effectively do Reiki.
Reiki does not involve E.S.P. or unusual psychic
phenomenon; is not a form of psychic healing or psychic surgery and is not a
massage technique.
WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM REIKI
Everyone can benefit from Reiki.
The
Reiki method is particularly useful to doctors, pediatricians, nurses,
psychologists, non-medical therapists, and all those who care for elderly
people. Patients in intensive care units can also benefit greatly from
Reiki. Babies and small children are very receptive to energies. Their
senses have not yet developed the protective defense mechanisms of adults.
In the healing and caring professions, when normal
human contact is important, physical touch treatments, and massages gain a
quite different quality when they include Reiki. Elderly and sick people
benefit from it on many levels. When their enjoyment of life diminishes,
they become sick more frequently and, because of their condition, are then
often bedridden. Reiki can nourish and energize such individuals.
It comes as little surprise that after experiencing the
benefits of a Reiki session many people wish to learn more about Reiki.
Anyone can learn Reiki as it is a natural part of our essence.
The Usui
System of Natural Healing includes three levels of training. The first two
levels are practitioner levels and the third, or master level, is available
for those who wish to teach Reiki.
